My Studio
So when I moved away from digital work I had to get used to a whole new world of media. This meant that I had to get a good space to do my art. Originally I started with a drafting table in the upstairs kitchen (upper lower converted to a single family) a table easel and a small space for myself and my wife. I had a table easel and a plastic drawer or supplies. After my wife started working remotely, I moved her office upstairs and her desk became my studio space.
I filled it with two drafting tables, one for drawing and another for painting, and eventually painting took over and I wound up with three easels in my small studio space. It became really cramped really fast. So I started making some changes. I brought down a larger easel I had in storage and I grabbed another drafting desk and it was filled also with my own work computer desk. Also a full wall of my room was full of my books. It worked but was really cramped, especially with filming video for Youtube as well as other stuff like a wingback chair and a hassock. I started having issues when I was working on multiple paintings projects as well as the general clutter of life.
So after some research I started building my own easel. I always go a bit overboard with these types of things but I managed to really like the idea of a wall easel, but I had one major problem. No wall! Old house and every 3 feat there is a door or window and in the one spot I did have a wall I had floor outlets that my computer needed to be plugged into. Sigh. So I started to research my different things and one thing that really caught my eye was Howard Lyons easel which has counterweights and has many different parts to it. So I began my construction and finally managed to put together a moveable easel on a T frame, I can hold up to 12 paintings and can raise and lower it as I need it. On the back side of the easel it has a drafting desk that I use as a counter weight.
